Secure Attachments
Infants and children who enjoy a secure attachment to their primary caregiver continue to have lasting, healthy relationships throughout their lifespan. Individuals with an insecure attachment are likely to struggle relationally and internalize anger and anxiety. Attachment is the primary, foundational predictor for relationship and parenting success. Positive life experiences and outside influences can dramatically impact the trajectory of insecure attachment styles into adulthood.
Blended Families
Families come in all shapes and sizes! Divorce and loss do not have to forever shadow your lives. Blended families experience co-parenting, custodial agreements, divided loyalties, and potential worldview differences as stressors that can cause tension within the family structure. Pitfalls and stressors greatly impact the health and well being of a blended family, but in extreme cases can lead to the destruction of the blended family unit.
Research shows that although the traditional, nuclear family is ideal, the blended family is a redemptive alternative for Christians who have experienced divorce. The church has a great opportunity to support blended families to foster healing and faith for future generations. Blended families are a valuable asset for discipleship by offering support to others with similar experiences as an example of redemptive living. Even outside of issues of faith, blended families are a valuable asset of society.
